Dirty Little Secret #10
8 05 2008
I used a movie, “The Notebook“, as a Weapon of Mass Affection.
When I’m in a relationship I’m never the first one to say “I love you“. I don’t know what I would do if the other person just said “Thanks” and kept it moving. My little heart would be crushed.
So, I’d been with my ex for quite a while…months. Long enough for me to know that he was completely smitten and long enough for me to wonder what was taking him so long to say those 3 little words.
I’d heard from some co-workers that The Notebook was the greatest love story. Ever. You’ll cry and then you’ll make babies. Blah blah blah. So I bought it and decided to put it to the test.
One day I went over to the Ex’s apartment and I brought The Notebook with me. I was gonna make him watch it if it was the last thing he did. Luckily for me he didn’t put up much of a fight, but he wasn’t jumping for joy either. I had trained him well.
We lay in bed that afternoon, snuggled up watching the movie. I turned and looked at him. I could see he was really feeling this movie. It blew my mind! This was going better than I had expected.
Before the movie even ended he turns to me and says “Do you love me?”
Me: “Why? Do you love me?”
Ex: “Yeah. I do.”
Me: “Good. I love you, too.”
JACKPOT!!!
I sooooo loved The Notebook. BTW…I loved your tactic! Classic.
Pure Comedy! I love it. I went the text mssage route lol
I enjoyed The Notebook as well. But my question is, “why is he your ex”?
OMG, you are brave! I go out of my way to avoid chick flicks with men for fear of turning them off. Movies like that are reserved for my mom and sister. Granted, I never saw the Notebook either, I suspect it will join Titanic in my “never watched” list.
That is friggin HILARIOUS!!!
Aawwee… yeah the Notebook would make you feel like that… I love that movie…
definitely goes down in history as being one of the best love stories ever!
