Dirty Little Secret #05

One of my biggest fears is walking in the suburbs at night. Why? I’m afraid of being attacked by a gang of deer lurking in the bushes. I’ve seen “When Animals Attack”. And I’ve seen the deer in my mom’s neighborhood. You drive past them, they will not move. A couple of years ago a guy I dated got stampeded while riding his motorcycle through Rock Creek Park. It’s not a game. You will lose against a deer every time.

OMG! Did you see American Idol last night? I haven’t laughed that hard on a weekday since I saw Pork Chop Sandwiches for the first time. They truly saved the best for last. This kid, Brandon Black, was funny as hell. I couldn’t breathe I was laughing so hard. It was ugly. Trust me. Clearly Randy, Simon, & Paula had no idea that he was impersonating Katt Williams. I wouldn’t expect Simon to know, but Randy? This was too hilarious. Borderline embarassing, but hilarious. From Paula’s “What?!” to Brandon acknowledging the Man above. From his vocal acrobatics to his striptease. From his old school Dru Hill moves to that hat trickery. I loved every second of it.

7even Deadly Sins: Envy

Tyra Banks is doing the damn thing. (Do people still say that?) Anywho, I wish I had Tyra Banks money. She’s trying her best to knock Oprah off her billion dollar throne. She is the creator and Executive Producer of America’s Next Top Model which is going into it’s 10th season on February 20 (Yes. Already!). A show so popular that there are at least 34 international versions of it. I’ve seen Canada’s Next Top Model and nothing beats the original.

She has her own Emmy-nominated show, The Tyra Banks Show.

She’s a supermodel.

She sings. (tee hee hee)

She acts.

And, now she has a new reality series that will premiere in late spring/summer. It will revolve around a fashion magazine where the winner scores a job in the fashion industry. According to the CW, it’s supposed to be “The Devil Wears Prada” meets “The Assistant”. Sounds like The Fashionista Diaries to me.  Hmmm…

Top Model Tootie

Check out ANTM Cycle 9 winner Saleisha on the cover of the February issue of Seventeen. She looks really cute. I see she’s still rockin’ the Tootie/Velma ‘do. It’s looking much better though.

Homo or Metro?

While in NYC this past MLK weekend, I noticed a few trends that you don’t come across too often in DC. One of which is guys in skinny jeans. It’s amazing what a little change in geography can do for a guy’s wardrobe possibilities. In DC, a guy in skintight pants is gay. No questions asked. In NYC, he’s trendy. Rock n’ Roll. “In the business”. Anything, but not necessarily gay. Not that there’s anything wrong with that. I just find it so interesting how New Yorkers can get away with so much that people from other cities can’t.

I have an affinity for metrosexual men. I like my men clean cut and well-groomed. There’s nothing better than a well dressed man. Unfortunately, because of my tastes in men I have to come right out and ask them, “Are you gay?” A girl can never be too sure or too careful nowadays. They don’t like it, but you do what you gotta do.

I wish there were more men willing to look like this…

Reinventing the Wheel

 

Anyone who knows me, knows of my slight obsession with all things Justin Timberlake.  That being said.  I was shocked and awed to find out that his Right hand man/Producer, Timberland, has gone and cloned him overseas.  I know JT is as big of a star across the pond as he is here.  Why would Timothy do such a thing?  Isn’t one of him enough?

Not Haute: Joey Crack

I don’t care what nobody says. I don’t even care who made this shirt. It could be the great Valentino himself. You can not convince me that the shirt Fat Joe is wearing at 1:39 is cute. Grown *ss men (especially those over 200 lbs!) should never wear silk shirts with red roses all over it. And no, the skulls don’t make it less sweet. Not a good look, Joe.

Upon further review of the video, I noticed another tidbit at 1:18. Why is Bow Wow’s under 21 behind pouring yack and winking at the camera likes he’s grown? He’s really been cutting up lately. I used to like him…

Chris Brown: “With You”

Okay little Chris Brown. You’re really starting to win me over. I really like this new video of yours….minus all the slipping and sliding and moonwalking. The cinematography and Erik White’s artistic vision really sold me on this song. I liked it before when I heard it on the radio, but now I can really enjoy it without focusing on the whiney, nasal-like quality of your voice. The flashing lights and still photography provide a nice distraction.

Designer Spotlight: DCMA Collective

I tend to get a little salty when I hear about celebrities coming out with clothing lines…out of the blue. The same way true thespians feel about rappers-turned-actors. However, I feel the need to spotlight DCMA Collective for the following reasons:

• Two of the designers are Good Charlotte band members and twin brothers, Joel and Benji Madden. They’re from the DC area (Waldorf, MD). Gotta represent DC talent any way I can.
• Joel has helped Ms. Richie get a new lease on life. Love is a beautiful thing. I can’t wait to see little Harlow.
• And I actually like their stuff. They even have onesies. How cute!
